Who needs snow???

I got a large package yesterday and when I opened it I was dismayed to see it was full of packing peanuts. Mason was standing next to me and immediately dug his hands in. I said "NO! You will make a HUGE mess!" As he backed away with a look of sadness, I thought, hey... what the heck? I grabbed the box and dumped it on his head! He played in it for an hour! We had a lot of fun pretending it was snow! It took 45 minutes to clean it all up, but he had a blast!

Date night!!!

Jes and I went on a date Monday night! It was our first in 5 months!!! We drove down to San Antonio to see the Phoenix Suns play the Spurs. Jes has loved the Suns for a long time, even before we moved to Arizona. He was really excited to see the game. We first went to dinner on the river walk, and then headed over to where we assumed the game would be played. We arrived at our destination and we were really confused. "Why are there no cars in the parking lot" we wondered. Jes asked, do you see anyone inside? I said no! We drove around and around for about 5 minutes, and finally asked the security guard "don't the spurs play here tonight??" at which point he looked at us with a look of you poor dumb people... He politely told us the spurs no longer play at the Alamodome, and haven't for 4 years!!! Oops! By the time we got to the game it was half time, which was fine with me! The suns won!!! It was a great game, but that wasn't the end of our adventure! We were driving home on the freeway and suddenly hear a terrible noise! A piece of our car's undercarriage had come off and was dragging on the ground! We had to pull over and buy duct tape at Walgreen's to put our car back together! We finally made it home at midnight (which is very late for us old folks!) and crashed into bed! It was a great night, it was fun to spend some time together alone for once!!!

Rocken around the Christmas Tree

Mason and I decorated the Christmas tree a few weeks ago. I somehow forgot this should be a family thing and did it without Jes. He is still mad!

It's hard to see in the picture but Mas tried to put every ornament on the same branch. I tried to get him to spread them out but he would have none of it!!!

He almost fell in the bucket trying to get everything out of it

What a cutie pie! Yes, his hat says babies first Christmas, but oh well!!!

He found my umbrella hat from when I was a silly teenager and wore it the rest of the day! In fact, he has worn it everyday since then too!!!

Swinging in the COLD!

Mason insisted on swinging outside yesterday even though it was FREEZING!!! So, I bundled him up in his hat and gloves. He hasn't worn gloves since he was a baby, and he had no idea what to do with them! He just held his hands out and looked at me like "what am I suppose to do now?" I had to show him that his hands would still move! It was so funny!!!
He was totally enthralled with the special "thumb pockets"!

Poor Daddy!

It seems that every time Jes tries to plan what he calls a "Family Date" something seems to go wrong! It's not that we don't have fun, it's just that they don't turn out the way he wanted or was planning! Last weekend we decided to drive to San Antonio and take the boat tour to look at the Christmas lights on the river walk. We planned to be there around 5:00, but didn't get there until about 6:30 (mostly my fault... oops!). Traffic was horrible. It took forever just to park the car. This should have given us a clue, but didn't. We went down to the river, and what do we find??? Shoulder to Shoulder people! After about 15 minutes of walking we finally made it to the restaurant. The wait was 1 hour. So, shoulder to shoulder people on a 3 foot wide sidewalk bordering a river... with a 2 year old! Not the best idea! Somehow I was able to keep Mason from falling into the river long enough to get seated at the restaurant. We ate, which was great, but by the time we finished it was 8:30. We walked up to the boat tour to find the line was at least 1 hour long! Mason was bound to be asleep in the next 20 minutes. So, we decided there was no reason to take a sleeping boy on a boat tour! So we walked back to our car and drove home. Like I said, it was fun, it just wasn't what Jes had planned. He gets really bummed out when his plans don't go quite right. He tries so hard, he is such a great Daddy and husband!

Well, I think we can safely announce... we are pregnant! I took 2, yes 2 tests, because I didn't believe the first one! We have had 2 ultrasounds and everything looks great! We are 13 weeks along, due June 5! We are really excited and can't wait to find out what we are having!!!

Thanksgiving

Hard to believe Mason and I were in Utah for more than a week, and this is the ONLY picture I took! What a cute one it is though!!! Mason was having a ball stacking all his trucks on Grandpa and then climbing to the top of the pile and pushing them all on the floor. He did this for and hour every day! In this picture he was just lounging with Grandpa. He loved seeing his family! Everyone was so happy that he knew all there names!

Turkey day was great! We went to Don and Jessica's in the morning, and then ate dinner at Mom's. Amber and Brady brought pie later and we got to see beautiful baby Ellie! I can't believe I didn't even take a picture of her! Mason just loved her, but we had to try and keep him distant because he had a cough and runny nose. We had a great time, but we missed Daddy. He had to stay in Texas and work. Poor Daddy! He was so helpful while we were gone! I got home and the house was spotless! He even moped the floor! I couldn't believe it!!! What a great guy!

Halloween

I think next year we need to plan a little better so we make sense as a family! Jes was Gothic,

Mason was an adorable turtle

And Mom was a princess. So, we were a Gothic and a princes with a pet turtle! Doesn't really make sense!

Mason posing by the pumpkins he painted. He was afraid of the "guts" inside when we carved them. He did much better with just painting!

After trick or treating in downtown "Booda" Jes helped Mason go through his candy. He made sure to pick out all the poisoned ones, such as all the twix! When we had finished trick or treating and were getting into the car I tried to take Mason's bucket from him to get him in his car seat. He would NOT let go! He was screaming "MY BUCKET!" Jes had to pry it from his hands so I could buckle him up! Then he asked about it the whole way home!

Checking out his loot at Downtown Booda festival.

AHHHH! The perfect pumkin! I finally found it!!!

You are my sunshine

Mason started singing with me a few weeks ago. It's so cute, but of course it's hard to capture his best performance when I'm videoing him. He did pretty good though!

Never Mind!

By 10:00 this morning Mas had 3 pee accidents, and no successes. So, I don't think I have the energy for this endeavor quite yet! We spent a good part of the morning on the potty singing songs, reading stories and just chatting it up. He thought it was great fun to sit there, but refused to go potty. I guess he's not quite ready yet. Brandi, you were right... if only I had listened!
p.s. I still can't figure out how to put a picture from the web on here! I'm such a dummy!

Not sure if I'm up for this!

Well, we have decided to try and potty train Mason! Wish me luck! He was so excited to get big boy underware, so hopefully he will do okay! If anyone has some potty training tips, they are welcome to share!!!!

naptime blues

Once upon a time there was a Mom who was so lucky! As afternoon came near she would carry her wide awake child into his room, sing him a little song, give him a hug and kiss and put him in his crib. The child would then fall asleep without making a peep, and would sleep for 3 hours. Then one day the child discovered how to climb out of his crib. The Mom would worry that the dear child was going to fall and crack open his head on the concrete floor, so, the Mom and Dad got the child a "big boy bed". Now, it is a different story. Instead of the child falling asleep, he destroyes his room. He pulls everything out of his dresser, pulls out every toy he can get his hands on, and, in one case, pulled the wall paper boarder off the wall. This oh so lucky Mom now would like to give her dear child a tranquilizer come nap time!

This room was clean before I tried to put him down for a nap. Somebody PLEASE help me! Oh, and the real clincher... he never did fall asleep. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Birthday Boy!!!

Mason Turns 2!
here are some cute pictures of Mason's 2nd birthday!

He was so excited to get a punching bag! He carried it around the house with him all day!

He was good at opening the gifts all by himself! After 3 or 4 he just wanted to play with what he already had. So we decided to open the rest later. About an hour later I heard him yell "FISHY!" and I thought, he didn't open fish yet! I turned the corner and he had opened all the rest of the presents by himself!

We took him to Gatti Town for dinner and games. (for those of you who don't know, it's like Chucky Cheese.) He had such a blast playing the games!!!
This was a roller coaster ride that really moved. He thought it was really fun and wanted to keep doing it!

Ski-ball with a 2 year old can be dangerous business!!!

This was his favorite game of all! He was pretty good at hitting the ducks! He did better when he did it by himself instead of having us help him.

Align Center

Wow! Look at all that food!!! No, he didn't eat it all!

This was funny! It's a ride that takes you up and drops and bounces. He thought the first drop/bounce was fun, but then he was a little scared. He didn't cry though!

I decided to open a cake decorating company!

So, yesterday was my darling son's 2nd birthday. I decided I wanted to make him a cute cake. I chose the double decker design, you know, 2 round cakes on top of each other with the frosting in the middle?!? I have done it once before and it was okay, so I thought surely my second go round would be better! Well, This is what the top layer ended up looking like! I tipped the top layer onto the bottom and it fell apart. I then thought "humm, I can probably 'glue' it back together with frosting!" BAD idea! I ended up with a big cake/frosting mess! I had to scrap it off the bottom piece, which was now polka dotted with cake instead of being smooth white!
But, all in all I guess it turned out okay! After all, he is only 2, he didn't know the difference!

Someone needs to help me!

My blog looks lame, I need someone to teach me how to make it cuter. Any volunteers???

Shop till Mason's burried!

Yahoo for Michelle and La Nan! They spread the news like wild fire that Old Navy was having a clearance sale! Mason and I left the house just minutes after receiving the email. The store was out of carts, so I just piled the stuff on top of the stroller. Before you knew it poor Mason was buried! I could only see him from his tummy down! Of course when I realized this I uncovered his head for fear of suffocation! He was such a good boy while I spent on hour running from one side of the store to the other. What fun what fun!!! If you didn't go down there yet, you better because it's awesome! To all you in different states then me, so sorry you missed it. The only way the trip would have been better is if my sisters could have come too!

Finally learned how to do a pic!

Here is the photo of Mas in his beloved turtle costume. I am a computer idiot so I had to wait till Jes could show me how to do it. Of course when we got home and I wanted Mason to show Daddy his costume, he refused to put it on!

Halloween pick out

Mason and I went shopping today and bought his halloween costume so I can give it to him for his birthday! I really wanted him to be a lion and I thought he would LOVE the idea since it's his favorite animal. But, children never cease to amaze us right??? Our conversation went a little like this
me: Wow! Look at the lion! It's so cool! Do you want to try it on?
Mas: No, Turtle!!!
me: But look at the lion! What does the lion say?
Mas: ROOOAAARRR!
me: let's try on the lion!
Mas: NO! Turtle!

I put him in the lion and show him the mirror

Mas: CUTE! ROOAARR!
me: It is cute! Do you want to be the lion?
Mas: NO, Turtle!

so, we got the turtle. It's really cute too!
